Doris Ann Emsley

Doris (Dot) passed away July 16, 2010 in Snohomish, Wa. at the age of 83. She was born in Fall River, Massachusetts May 27, 1927. She was one of 7 children born to Andrew and Margaret Marshall. Her siblings were Andrew, Mildred, John, Jean, Alexander (Buddy) and Joseph. She graduated from Durfee High School in 1945, then followed in her sisters footsteps and became a registered nurse. She attended St Anne's for her nurses training and after graduation she worked at Taunton State Hospital. She married Albert (Buzz) Emsley in 1949 and together they enjoyed 48 years of marriage until his passing in 1997.
She spent many years raising a family in various locations. Their duty stations included Seoul Korea, Newport RI, Bermuda,up and down the California coast, Boston Mass, back to San Diego, and upon retirement Bothell, Washington.
Dot worked occasionally part time as a nurse, volunteered in hospitals, sang in church choirs, volunteered in her church guilds and was mostly active in her childrens activities ( scouts, concessions ,PTA etc) She also returned to Massachusetts often for family visits and class reunions.
During their retirement, Dot and Buzz continued to travel, using Germany as a jumping off place, they visited various European locations. In 1998 Dot took her 3 daughters and visited England, Ireland and Scotland. In her later years, Dot thoroughly enjoyed her many grandchildren and all their activities such as dance recitals, singing concerts, talent shows, sporting events, she loved to walk the malls, go to a movies, read, embroidery, and do word search puzzles.
She is survived by her 10 children: Steve (Tracy), Mike (Patty), Peggy (John), Peter (Robbie) ,Allen (Cindi), Dodi (Phil) ,Douglas, Mary
(Shawn) Tim (Ria), Tom ( Sandi)
Her 17 grandchildren: Marshall, Rachel, Jason, Jennifer,Megan, Colleen, Kyle, Andrew, Marc, Erik, Kevin, Allison, Kawika, Rachel, Ryan, Patrick, Samantha and her 7 great grandchildren: Zackary, Hailey, Mele, River, Liam, and Jacob. Her extended family includes step granddaughters Heather, Lani, Maile, and Sondra and step great grandchildren Aislinn and Alika.
