Doris Campbell Resident of Alameda Doris, 88 years old, died Thursday morning, October 6, 2011 in Alameda, CA of natural causes. She was born on February 27, 1923 in Wittenberg, MO. In 1947 she married Ken Hubbs who preceded her in death. She and Ken had two sons and five daughters. They moved to southern California in 1960. In 1964 she married Herman Campbell who preceded her in death. She and Herman and had two daughters. When her eldest daughter had her first son, Doris moved to Alameda, CA in 1976 to be closer to her first grandchild. Her passion was her family. She was a devoted mother and always put her children first. She enjoyed family gatherings on Holidays and especially birthday celebrations. She was especially happy when her grandchildren, great grandchildren & great nieces would visit her. She had many relatives and friends in Chester, IL and trips back to Chester became a ritual. With nine children, she had to become "supermom". She did a great job of raising her children. With so many children she was able to attend to their individual needs as a mother should. She lived life with a passion. She was very outgoing and made friends easily. Her loyalty and witty humor insured that they would remain friends for life. She was an avid reader and received a Kindle as a gift last year. She would always have her Kindle with her throughout the day. She is survived by her sons, Rick and Kurt; her daughters, Keniss, Karen, Lynnie, Rebecca, Lori, Dawn and Lisa; her son-in-laws, Jerry, Ron and Larry; her grand-children, Alan, Jason, Jennifer, Amber & Ryan, Mathew, Erik, Michelle, Gabriel, Cody, Max, and Keira; her grand son-in-law Ben; her great grandchildren, Lauren, Addison, Trenton; her great niece Tracey & Ed; great-great nieces, Ronni and Delaney; her sister-in-law Retha and family; her best friend Sharon; many other relatives and friends. You will remain forever in our hearts. Friends and family are welcome to a viewing on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 between the hours of 5 pm to 9 pm and funeral services on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 10 am at the Chapel of the Chimes at 4499 Piedmont Ave, Oakland, CA. In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
