Doris Green Cox
Greenville, SC
Doris Yvonne Green Cox, 72, widow of Lawrence Cox, of 1140 East Butler Road, died December 15, 2011.
Born in Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late Lindsay and Pauline Christopher Green.
Doris retired from the Greenville County School System and was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church, where she served many years in the children's department and with the youth ministry.
Surviving are a son, Nolan Cox of Greenville; three brothers, Wendell, Virgil and Ray Green; two sisters, Olivia Cooper and Louise Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by three brothers.
Services will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Rocky Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kingdom Cause, Building Fund of Simpsonville First Baptist Church, 3 Hedge Street, Simpsonville, SC 29681.
