Doris Jasper, 83, of St. Joseph, passed away, Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 19, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Court & Market Streets, St. Joseph, with Rev. Thomas Batsky officiating. Private burial will follow at Spring Run Cemetery in Scottdale. Friends may call from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice at Home. Those wishing to sign Doris' Guest Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Doris was born December 8, 1928 in Benton Harbor to Leon & Agnes (Ewalt) Wetzel. She attended Berrien Springs High School, Class of 1946 where she was a member of the girls basketball team. On June 15, 1946, she married Otto Jasper, Jr. in Berrien Springs. Doris helped her husband operate the family farm in Royalton Township-Otto Jasper Centennial Farm. There wasn't anything that she couldn't do to help Otto around the house and on the farm. She enjoyed her time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Doris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the "Dashing Dozen". She was a 4-H leader while her daughters were involved in 4-H, and enjoyed decorating, ceramics, painting, reading, flower gardening and bird watching.
Doris is survived by her husband Otto Jr.; three daughters-Linda (George) Marutz of Eau Claire, Vicki (Robert) Rudell of Berrien Springs, Donna Jasper of Buchanan; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister Pauline McCarroll of Tucson, AZ; Doris was preceded in death by her parents.
