Doris Lee Harper was born on June 27, 1935 in Bogue Chitto, Mississippi to Josephine and Rudolph Hodge who preceded her in death. She was the first born of four from this lovely union. Her dance partner and oldest brother, Darris Hodge, son-in-law, Archie Robinson, step daughter, Carolyn Harper and granddaughter's, Stephanie Harper and Tamika Hawkins also preceded her in death. Doris Lee Harper departed her joyful life on Friday, December 16, 2011 in Bellefontaine Gardens Nursing Center. At an early age, she came to know the Lord as her personal Savior. Doris received her early education at Lincoln County Training School in Bogue Chitto, MS. Her secondary education was received at DuSable High School in Chicago, IL. She moved to Kinloch, MO in 1954, where she met and married John Lee Harper, Sr. who preceded her in death. To this union, six children were born. Doris loved to sing and dance. She really enjoyed fishing and talking to her plants. Upon her face was always a cheerful smile and she is remembered for her kindness. Family and friends were very special to her. She leaves to cherish and hold her wonderful memories with: her children, Travis Hodge (Teri), Cynthia Robinson, Dwayne Harper (Donna), Deborah Jackson (Gregory), Joseph Alvin Harper, and Calvin Harper (Genora); brother, Ivory Hodge (Alice) and sister, Nijullia Williams (Barry); step-children, Leola Hamilton (Eugene), Joe Lee Harper, Jr., Beverly Horsley (James) and Michael Harper; three aunts, Mary Ann Eddington, and Bernice Eddington (Springfield, MA), and Doris Eddington (Rochester, NY); eighteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; special cousin, Mrs. Mazzie McNulty (Solomon); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
