DORIS MARIE CAREY Doris Carey, age 89, passed away on May 18, 2011 at home in Camas. She was born on August 4, 1921 in Vancouver, WA. She was raised in Camas and graduated from Camas High School. Doris attended the University of Washington and married Donn Carey. They moved to San Francisco while Donn was stationed there and she worked for Crown Zellerbach. They would move back to Camas and Doris would become a homemaker. She was an avid cook and loved to entertain. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Circle. Doris was also a past member of the Orchard Hills Country Club and the Dolphin Yacht Club. Boating in the San Juan's was one of her favorite activities along with fishing, clamming and hunting mushrooms. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donn and grandson, Patrick. Survivors include her children, Dan Carey of Camas; Dennis Carey of Camas; Donna Urban of Oregon City, OR; brother, Howard Lorenz of Camas and 5 grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Camas. Vault interment will be private at the Camas Cemetery. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia river Cremation in Camas is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial donations can be given to either the Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or to the National Kidney Foundation @ www.kidney.org.
