Rev. Doris Novella Nixon, 84, a resident of Albuquerque for 15 years, died Sunday, November 20, 2011. She is survived by her sisters, Melba Dutton (94), of Littlefield, TX, Mona Walker (91), of Maple Valley, WA, and Wanda Smith (88), of Chickamauga, GA; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives; and many, many friends. Rev. Nixon was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Dwight and Ethel Nixon; brother, J.D. Nixon; sisters, Pauline Cotton, and Maxine Ferres. She was born in 1927 in Amherst, TX and graduated from seminary in Waxahachie, TX. She was an Ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God for fifty years. Rev. Nixon was a missionary to the American Indians and loved to sing, play the piano and accordion. She was an avid student of the Bible. Rev. Nixon was a loving sister, aunt, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Friends may visit French-University, Monday, November 28, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.. Services will follow at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, 2:00 p.m. at Littlefield Memorial Park, Littlefield, TX.
