Doris P. Bowman, 89, of New Hartford died July 16, 2013 at the Presbyterian Home for CNY. She was born August 23, 1923 daughter of the late John and Lena (Petch) Pryor and graduated from Chadwicks High School. She married Douglas Bowman on November 20, 1941 in St. Anthony's Church, Chadwicks. A loving union until his passing in 1992. Doris was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, a charter member of the New Hartford Fire Department Auxiliary, a member of the New Hartford Lion's Club Auxiliary, a member of the Home Bureau and Altar Rosary Society. At one time she sold Peggy Newton cosmetics, taught crafts at the Utica Senior Center and served as an Election Inspector for the Town of New Hartford for over 15 years. She loved her home and being a homemaker. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Gayle and son-in-law Roger Cleveland, two dear grandsons James Marshall of Souderton, PA and William Marshall of New Hartford, four granddaughters, Mrs. Jeffrey (Darlene) Serbicki of Holley, NY, Mrs. Sam (Kathie) Foresti of Baldwinsville, NY, Mrs. Matthew (Lynn) Ecker of Hastings, NY and Mrs. Diane Dixon of Durante, OK and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son Gary Douglas Bowman; two brothers, Lyle Pryor and Gerald Pryor, a son-in-law Daniel Moorhead and grandson-in-law Wayne Dixon. The family wishes to extend a thank you to the Presbyterian Home, Willow Wing, for the great care and compassion to her. A special thank you to Christine and Cate and all the nurses and aides who were so kind to her. Also, to Barbara and Jane and everyone one in the Activities Department. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider contributions to the Presbyterian Homes Activities Department or the New Hartford Fire Department Auxiliary, (Envelopes will be available at the church)
