Dorothy J. "Dot' (Alley) Cameron, age 70, of Naples, Florida and Newburyport, MA, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012, surrounded by her loving family, after a brief but courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in Lynn, MA Dot first worked as a secretary for Fireman's Fund Insurance Co. in Boston, and John McCarthy Insurance Agency in Lynn. Later, she worked at Star Market in Beverly; at Triton Regional High School in Byfield, MA for many years, and then at White Hen Pantry in Newburyport, MA. Dot's greatest joy in life was her family, especially her five grandchildren. She loved spending winters in Naples, Florida, except that kept her away from her children and grandchildren. She was very active in many activities that were ongoing at her Florida home and made many dear friends there. She particularly enjoyed her trips to various casinos, especially those in Las Vegas with her husband. Dot is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Richard, also of Naples, Florida and Newburyport, MA. She is also survived by her daughter, Cheryl Leary and her husband David, of South Weymouth, MA and by her daughter Lisa Durkee and her husband, Peter of Georgetown, MA. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her five grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Cameron, Cayla and Connor Durkee, all of Georgetown, MA and Shannon and Nicholas Leary of South Weymouth, MA. She is also survived by her sister, Sylvia Parker and her husband Roger of Lynn, MA; her sister Roberta McGrath of South Euclid, OH, and her brother, Paul Alley of Charleston, SC, as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends whom she loved. Dot was predeceased in death by her parents, Clarence and Alberta (Ellison) Alley, her brother Brian, and her sisters, Mildred Armao, Brenda and Karen Alley. Funeral services will be held in the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN & RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt129) Lynn, on Friday at 10:30AM. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dot's memory to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place., Brookline, MA 02445.
