Dorothy Bass, 94 years of age, of Lubbock, died on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Carillon House.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Sanders Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be one hour preceding the service and burial will follow at City of Lubbock Cemetery. Bill Starcher and Joe Burks, nephew will conduct the service.

Dorothy was born October 15, 1915 in Maysville, Oklahoma to W.T. and Mittie Lucas. She married Clarence Bass on October 12, 1940 in Lubbock and moved to the Canyon community where they farmed for 25 years until moving to Lubbock in 1965. She owned and operated Dorothy Bass Monogram Shop with her husband until her retirement.

Dorothy taught children’s Bible classes in Idalou for twenty years. After moving to Lubbock, she attended Sunset and Broadway Church of Christ.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; two brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Bonnie Bass; nieces Gayle Burks of Lubbock and Peggy Igo of Midland; and a nephew, George Igo of Spring. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who affectionately call her “Aunt Dorothy.”

The family would like to thank the employees at Carillon House on 2 South for the excellent care they provided.
