Dorothy Darlene Elliott was born February 11, 1928,in Grinnell, IA , daughter of Homer and Mae Stahl Sears. She received her education in the Geneseo and then graduated from Geneseo High School. On August 27, 1950, she was united in marriage to Dean Robert Elliott at the Geneseo United Methodist Church. Dean and Dorothy made their home farming all their married life near Dysart before retiring to their home at 706 Blaine St. in Dysart. After Dean's death on January 13, 1992, she continued to make Dysart her home and in later years made her home with her sister Wilma in rural Buckingham. For the past year she has been a resident of the Sunnycrest Care Center in Dysart where her death came early Wednesday morning December 14, 2011, at the age of 83 years 10 months and 3 days. She was a member of the Dysart United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by parents, husband Dean, sisters; Ruth Sears Temple and husband Kenneth, Lois Sears Danker and husband Bill, three brothers; Donald and Edgar Sears and Kenneth Sears and wife Eugenia. She is survived by two sons; Robert D. (Vada) Elliott of Dysart and Bret A (Julie) Elliott of Buckingham, IA, one daughter Marilyn (Bob) Popenhagen of Cambridge, IA, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, one brother Art (Beth) Sears of Hiawatha, KS, sisters; Rhoda (late Keith) Wilkinson of Fayette, IA, and Wilma (late Norman) Holub of Buckingham, IA, sisters-in-law Margaret (late Donald) Sears and Shirley (late Edgar) Sears both of Grinnell, IA, and many loving nieces and nephews.
