Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” (Robinson) Mokeler, a lifelong resident of Melrose, died on Saturday afternoon, March 19, 2011 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital following a period of declining health. She was 74 years old.
Dot was born on March 18, 1937 in Melrose, one of two children of the late Alton and Mildred (Johnson) Robinson.
She was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School. Dot was a secretary for many years at Boit, Dalton and Church Insurance in Boston. She was a Cub Scout mother and Boy Scout mother for her 3 sons. She was a supporter of homeless veterans and the American Arthritis Foundation. She loved cooking, sewing and animals, particularly cats. Dot was a member of the former Universalist Church in Melrose where she sang for many years in the choir.
Dot was the beloved wife of William F. Mokeler with whom she shared 45 years of marriage. Devoted mother of William F. Mokeler III and his spouse Paul of Malden, David M. Mokeler and Michael P. Mokeler both of Melrose. Dear sister of Priscilla Eales of FL. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Wyoming Cemetery, Sylvan St. Melrose Wednesday March 23 at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Gifts in Dot’s memory may be made to the Melrose Humane Society, P.O. Box 760668, Melrose, MA 02176.
