Dorothy Ellen Trigg Magee, 90, died Thurs, Jan 12, 2012 from cancer. She was born Nov 12, 1921 in Pleasanton, Ks where she graduated from H.S. In '39. She graduated from University of Kansas School of Medicine with a degree in nursing in '43 and was commissioned as a Lt. In the Army where she served in England during WWII for 2yrs, during which time she cared for D-Day casualties.
Returning from the war, she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at Baker University where she was a member of Phi Mu and was employed as the campus nurse.
Following graduation, she was on faculty at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in the early '50s and later joined the staff at K.U. Medical Center.
Ellen also worked at Research Hospital and later was the nurse at the Western Auto Headquarters.
Caregiving was her gift and she gave it freely to all who crossed her path from family, friends and neighbors to homeless dogs.
She is survived by her son, Matthew Kevin Magee of Shawnee, Ks, her daughter, Maura Mae Schroeder, her husband Loren and her grandchildren, Shamus Tynan and his wife Hillary, all of Lynn Haven, Fl, Caylen Colleen and husband Robbie Williams and her great granddaughter, Marlee Grace, of Senoia, Ga. and Ian Hogan Schroeder of Chicago, Illinois.
At her request, there will be no service.
