DOROTHY (HAAG) GEORGE

At the ripe old age of 93, passed away on Sunday morning, November 27, 2011 at Bay Tree Care Center in Palm Harbor, FL. were she had lived for the past 3 years. She had many friends there and will be remembered fondly for her beautiful smile.

Dorothy was born in Negley, Ohio on October 7, 1918 to Cletus & Fleda (Walker) Haag. She grew up in East Sparta, Ohio, graduated from East Sparta High where she was a cheerleader. She married James M. George of Canton, Ohio on March 27, 1936; they had 4 daughters and in 1950 moved to Miami, Florida.

They both loved to travel & in the early 70's Jim joined the construction team of a then new company, Burger King, Inc. They traveled all over the country for many years in their Airstream Trailer, 6-9 months in each place, Dorothy said it was one of the most exciting times of her life, seeing so many new places & making new friends. Dorothy loved to drive and would often take off with her daughters going on trips with just her "girls". She always wanted to be a "Powderpuff" race car driver" as they called them back then, but was too much of a lady to actually do it. She also traveled to Europe numerous times, plus Canada, Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean. Her suitcase was always packed and ready to go.

Dorothy & Jim were married 58 years & he preceded her in death in 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Millard, Lowell & Charles (Chick) Haag, her daughter Rosemary and son-in-law James Dooling, and grandbaby Michael Dooling.

Dorothy is survived by three daughters Judith King of Springdale, AR, SuzAnne (Paul) Mabus of Port Richey, FL., and Leslie George of Cedar Key, FL,
nine grandchildren Gary (Maria) Dooling of Miami, Fl.Daniel Dooling of Miami, FL, Thomas Dooling of Santa Barbara, CA, Laura (Tim) Coiner of Miami, FL, Adam King of Springdale, AR, Bethany ( Norberto) Rivera of Ashburn, VA, Meadow King of Minneapolis, MN, Amy (Matthew) Knightley of Trinity, FL, and Katrin (Paul) Chefero of Trinity, FL. She also leaves 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was active in the Catholic Church and was devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary. She is truly happy in heaven with her many family members and friends but we will all miss her so much. She was a guiding light in all our lives.

Interment will be 3:00 pm Thursday December 1, 2011 at the Sylvan Abbey Cemetery attended by the family. A Mass and memorial service is planned at a future date & time.
