Mrs. Dorothy Lincoln Oblinger, 83 of Adamstown died Sunday, June 7 at Buckingham's Choice, Adamstown. She was the wife of James Thurston Oblinger, Sr., whom she married June 10, 1948.Born February 12, 1926 in New Haven, Connecticut, she was a daughter of the late John and Jeanie Hamilton Cochrane.Mrs. Oblinger was a member of the Frederick Presbyterian Church. She was past President of the Encore Club in Thousand Oaks, CA, and was a Docent and past President of Stage Coach Inn Museus in Newburg Park, CA. Mrs. Oblinger was a first generation Scottish-American, her parents met and married after they each immigrated to the United States. She married Jim Oblinger and lived in Toledo Ohio for 3 years until Jim was recalled by the Navy during the Korean War. There first daughter was born in Norfolk and after Jim returned to civilian life they lived in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and California before moving to Buckingham's Choice, June 3, 2002. On the way they increased their family to five children. She was very active in serving as Sunday School Director, worked with Scouts, and President of the Newcomer's Club. At other times, she had time to enjoy sewing, cooking, oil painting, creating calligraphic items and watching her grandchildren grow up.Surviving besides her husband at home are five children: James T. Oblinger, Jr. and wife Cathleen of Tiverton RI, Carolyn J. Oblinger and husband Jerad Bales of Durham NC, John L. Oblinger and wife Maria del Carmen of Thousand Oaks CA, Hilary O. Fredette and husband Kevin of Morgantown WV, and Nancy O. Nash and husband Robert of Fox River Grove IL; eight grandchildren; and sister-in-law: Florence O. Winzeler of Waterville OH. Several nieces and nephews also survive.Mrs. Oblinger is at the Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 1201 North Market Street, Frederick. There will be no calling or visiting at the funeral home.A Memorial service will be held at a later date.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in memory of Mrs. Oblinger to the charity of one's choice.Online condolences may be made at www.daileyfuneralhomes.com.
