Dorothy Messina DiMarzio, 92, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones on Monday night, January 30, 2012.
Beloved wife of the late Ermanno DiMarzio, mother of Linda Massicot (Buddy), Lisa Rabito (Mark), Gregory DiMarzio, and special niece Marlene Pezzana. Adoring grandmother of Matthew, Christian, and Laura Rabito.
Daughter of the late Fedele and Carmelina Messina; preceded in death by siblings Josephine DiCristina, John Messina, Adeline LaNasa, Vincent Messina, Mary Pezzana, Elvera LeCorgne, Margaret Serio, Jennie Marrone, and Joseph Messina.
Also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews and life-long friends. Born in Crowley, LA; a lifetime resident of New Orleans, LA. A graduate of St. Joseph Academy and Soule Business College. A parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
She was a woman of faith and constant prayer, who devoted her life to God and her family and friends.
Special thanks to Dr. J. Kevin Russ, and Dr. Frank Rabito for their wonderful care through the years. Also much appreciation to Fr. Pat Williams for his spiritual support and guidance; also to St. Joseph Hospice and to the wonderful CAREGivers of Home Instead Senior Care, particularly Bobbie Smith, who provided comfort in her last days.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery.
