Dorothy Sophia Williams was born on December 9, 1931 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, daughter of Grace Ellen Taylor and Leonard Taylor. She was educated in Elizabeth and graduated from Elizabeth High School. On December 17, 1950, "Dottie", as she was affectionately known, was joined in holy matrimony to Frederick Williams and they began their married life together in Cranford, New Jersey. This union was blessed with four children, Frederick, Jr., Debra, Cynthia and Kathy. She dedicated her life to her husband and biological children, but opened her heart to give love and care to many others throughout her life. She was a member of Amazing Grace Church in Elizabeth, New Jersey which is led by her surrogate son, Bishop Todd Carson. Dorothy Sophia Williams departed this life on Friday, September 16, 2011 at Father Hudson House in Elizabeth at the age of 79. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Frederick Williams, Sr., her parents, Grace and Leonard Taylor, siblings, Mary Mitchell, Harry Taylor and Richard Taylor and a grandchild, Joleen Williams. She leaves to cherish fond memories, her children, Frederick Williams, Jr. (Teresa) of Hampton, VA, Debra Raines (Rubbin) of Newport News, VA, Cynthia Waller of Roselle, NJ and Kathy Williams of Linden, NJ; a brother, Leroy Taylor; a surrogate son, Bishop Todd Carson of Linden, NJ; 12 grandchildren, Erick, Steven, Jaycyne, Danella, Damone, Summer, Cassandra, Lawrence, Brandy, Brittany, Amber and Richard; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
