Dorothy (Haynes) Steele known to all as Dot, long-time resident of Morristown, died peacefully the evening of October 12, 2010 at the Morris View Healthcare Facility. Dorothy was born in Greensboro, NC, daughter of John W. and Bessie P. Haynes on February 12, 1923, and attended Greensboro Schools and furthered her education into Nursing. After Nursing School, she met and married the late Howard Steele a former Detective in the Morristown Police Department. Dorothy was employed as a assembler at Transistor Devices in Randolph for 25 years. She was a member of the Bethel A.M.E. Church Morristown where she served as a Trustee, Missionary, and member of the Gospel Choir. She was also a Lifetime member of the NAACP, a member of the Morris County Urban League, American Legion Auxiliary Post 312, the Le Femmes Social Club, and the Happy Workers Garden Club. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Echols of Greensboro, NC; god-daughter, Danielle Staley of Morristownship and god-son, Brandan Hopson of Irvington; two, sister in-laws, one, brother in-law and a host of relatives and friends.
