Dortha Flynn

Services for Dortha Nell Flynn, 89, of Tahoka will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2010 in the Wolfforth Church of Christ with Jerry Wigant officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.

She died on Sunday, October 24, 2010 under the care of Hospice of Lubbock.

Dortha Nell was born March 17, 1921 in Pursley, TX. She married Johnnie Carl Flynn, Sr. on November 9, 1942 in Corsicana, TX. He preceded her in death in 1971. She was a surgical technician at Hendricks Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1983. A loving mother and grandmother, she relocated to Tahoka to be closer to her family and care for her granddaughters. Dortha was an active member of the Wolfforth Church of Christ and spent much of her time quilting at the Tahoka Senior Citizens Center.

Loved ones include her son, John Flynn and wife, Elaine of Tahoka; granddaughter, Kelly Flynn of Ft. Worth; sister, Gladys Barnes of Irving, TX, sisters-in-law, Ruth Robinson of Fairfield, TX and Margie Flynn of Corsicana.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings and her granddaughter, Meg Flynn.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at Sanders Funeral Home.

Memorial donations in honor of Gran are suggested to the Meg Flynn Scholarship Fund/ Sunset Aim Program or the Meg Flynn Band Camp Scholarship Fund c/o 1st National Bank of Tahoka.
