Dortha Maxine Combs Tipton, 82, departed this life for her heavenly home on May 23 at her home in Dallas. Dortha was born on February 24, 1930 in Rocky, Oklahoma. She was the only child of her loving parents, Lonnie and Myrtle Combs who she now celebrates with in eternal glory with her heavenly Father. Dortha lived in Oklahoma until the age of nine when her family moved to Dallas, Texas where she has lived ever since. She is a graduate of Sunset High School. Upon graduation, she married John W. Tipton, worked for Mutual of Omaha and Sterling Jewelry. However, it was her outstanding career in Tupperware that she loved. Dortha reached high levels as a Tupperware manager for over 20 years and made lifelong friends in the Tupperware family. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by one son, Travis Tipton and wife Linda of Lucas, Texas and one daughter, Susan Henderson and husband Terry of Mesquite, Texas. The grandchildren she adored are Brandi Parra and husband Edward, Ryan Tipton, Ben Henderson and Sam Henderson. Great grandchildren are Julian and Elise Parra. Dortha was a devoted mother who laughed often and put up with much ribbing from her family. Fondly known as "Grandmothers", she was incredibly giving to her family. Dortha made friends wherever she went and had a way of bringing a smile to all she met (whether intentionally or not!). She loved the Mavericks, Rangers, Cowboys and big hair (not necessarily in that order) and rarely missed watching a game. A celebration of her life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29 at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Dortha's family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Interment at Laurel Land Memorial Park will follow the service.
