Douglas F. Edlund, age 49, of Moline, died Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Trinity, Rock Island.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday November, 4 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601 38 Avenue, Moline IL. There will be a visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 3 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to the family.
Douglas was born on January 19, 1962 in Moline, IL to Richard and Nancy Nichols Edlund. He married Teresa Thompson on April 22, 2003 at The Bridge in Milan, IL. Doug graduated from Blackhawk College. He earned his journeyman in sheet metal and was a welder for John Deere. He was a member of the UAW.
For a time Doug went on to become a professional musician. Worshiping the Lord was very important to Doug as he was a member of the Praise band for The Bridge in Milan. He loved music and playing the piano, however, he excelled at blessing people by playing his guitar. Doug was also a former member of the band for Celebrate Recovery. He very much enjoyed traveling out west and looking at the scenery. He enjoyed cooking, eating, and especially his mother-in-law's cornbread dressing. Doug loved the ocean on his and his wife's last vacation. They went to St. Petersburg, FL.
Doug's grandchildren brought the greatest joy to his life. He loved being their Paw Paw.
