Douglas H. Orgill, 90, passed away Feb. 11, 2012. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Melva Fay Orgill; children, Kathryn Barnhurst of Grand Junction, Lynn (Pamela) Orgill of Fountain Valley, Calif., Craig (Thayne) Orgill of Redmond, Wash. and Ruth (James) Funk of Los Alamitos, Calif.; brothers, Melvin (LaRee) Orgill and Stewart (Mabel) Orgill; 17 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his son-in-law, Kenneth Barnhurst; sister, Barbara (Cal) Herrin and brother, Max (Dorothy) Orgill. Douglas was born to Alexander and Margaret Orgill on Sept. 17, 1921, in Egin, Idaho. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during WWII. He retired from Cal State University in Long Beach as a professor of English. Douglas served as Bishop of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Long Beach and Pueblo. Funeral service, 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1411 Fortino Blvd., with Bishop Cory Smith officiating. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens.
