Duell B. Kirby, age 92, a resident of Russellville, died Monday, January 6, 2003, at his home. He was born August 17, 1910, at Russellville to the late James Columbus and Sarah Elizabeth Harkey Kirby. He was a former member of A. A. R. P.; was a former Justice of the Peace; was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, and past president of the Logan County Chapter; former member of Pope County Civil Defense; former Sunday School teacher at Bernice Baptist Church in Russellville; was a Baptist; enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, spending time with his family, gardening, and the outdoors. He married the late Stella Vestal Lile Kirby in 1934, at Russellville. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David & Vivian Kirby of Russellville; a step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Kenneth & Vera Aycock of Dardanelle; 2 grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Danny & Elaine Kirby of Dardanelle and Jon & Cara Kirby of Russellville; 3 step-grandchildren, Larry and Bill Aycock and Jana Aycock Dennis; 3 great grandchildren, Adam, Lauren, and Lindsey Kirby; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2003, at the Shinn Chapel with Rev. Douglas Little officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery at Russellville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Pallbearers will be Danny and Jon Kirby, Danny Price, Randy Guthrie, Johnny Cunningham, and Wayne Henson.

Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2003, at the funeral home.
