Duffy Lee Smith, age 56 passed away from injuries sustained in a car accident on Monday, June 25, 2012. He was born to Patricia and David Smith on October 2, 1955 at the Massillon City Hospital. Duffy married Tammy Krug on April 29, 2007 and she survives him. Duffy attended Tuslaw High School and went to work for Republic Steet at 17. He was employed by Republic Engineering for over 30 years. He was an avid Sprint Car Racer for 27 years, at one point being selected amateur driver of the year. Duffy was also a diehard sports fan, athlete and a coach. He was very committed to staying fit by exercising and weightlifting. Duffy enjoyed spending time with his family and will be remembered as a devoted and caring son, husband, brother and father. In addition to his wife, Duffy is survived by his step children Joseph Madzia IV and Jessie Taylor Madzia; his mother Patricia Reidenbach and step-father John Reidenbach; his brothers Jeff (Kathy) Smith and Steve Smith; a sister Leanne (Jon) Deitz; his in-laws Gary and Janice Krug and his brother-in-laws, Mark and Tim Krug. A host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends. Duffy was preceded in death by his father David Smith; his brother, Dennis Smith; and his grandmother Alma Smith. A Celebration of Duffy's life will be held at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 1P.M. Pastor Mark Self of Christ's Community Church, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 P.M. on Thursday, June 28, 2012 and from 12 noon on Friday until the time of the service. Interment will be at Brookfield Cemetery following the service.
