E.J. Murphy, 91, of Port St. Lucie, died April 21, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Swift Creek Township, NC, and had been a part-time resident of Port St. Lucie from 1985 to 1995, and has been a full time resident since then, having moved from Ocean City, MD. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during WWII in Italy and Africa. He was a member of the Worship Group at the Savannah Club, and was a bowler.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Charlotte Murphy of Port St. Lucie; daughters, Joan Murphy of Zephyrhills and Nancy Daniocek of League City, TX; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and sisters, Mildred Davis of Daytona Beach, Myrtle Mallard of NC and Mary Hamilton, Kinston, NC. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Eddie, Linwood, Robert Lee, Jarvis, Z.V. Jr and Paul and his sisters, Lillie Rae, Rachel and Dorothy.
A memorial service will be held, 11:00AM, Monday May 2, 2011 at the Savannah Club in Port St. Lucie.
Arrangements are entrusted to Forest Hills Funeral Homes, Palm City Chapel.
