Earl G. Hoard
April 23, 1926 - June 27, 2011
Earl G. Hoard was born April 23, 1926 in Kirkwood, Missouri. He was the son of the late Verda and Walter Hoard. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Donald who died during WWII. Earl spent his early years in Victoria, Mo. After graduating from high school in 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served for two years. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in statistics and accepted a job with Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. in Crystal City, Mo. In 1958, the family moved to Huntsville where he accepted a job with Thiokol Co. and later accepted a job with NASA-MSFC. He was retired in 1991 from NASA-MSFC but continued to work as a contractor. He married the former Shirley Weber in 1950. They were blessed with five children – Robert Hoard and spouse Cheryl, Lisa Hoard Johnson and spouse Zarl, Susan Hoard Coe, Jennifer Hoard McCool and spouse Alex, and Patrick Hoard and fiancée, Vicki Gaught and four grandchildren, Taylor and Jeffrey Coe, Alex McCool IV and Nick McCool. He enjoyed traveling, bowling, golfing and playing cards with friends. Visitation will be at Valhalla Funeral Home, Wednesday 5 – 7 PM. Graveside services will be Thursday at 10AM at Valhalla Memory gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of North Alabama, 3311 Bob Wallace Avenue, Suite 101, Huntsville, Al. 35805.
