Earl McCall, 91, Mondamin, Iowa passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010 at his home.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Rush Family Chapel at Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Don Collison officiating. Burial will be at Kennebec Cemetery at Castana, Iowa with military honors conducted by American Legion Grimsley Thayer Post #502, Castana. Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to service time.

Earl Edgar McCall was born September 19, 1919 at Castana, Iowa, the son of Henry and Florence (McClellan) McCall. He was raised on the family farm and attended country school at Castana.

Earl married Theodora Jonas September 10, 1941 at Ponca, Nebraska. He was drafted into the United States Army and served in Rome-Arno and North Apennines battles during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he received. He was honorably discharged November 3, 1945 and returned to farming. The couple are still living in rural Mondamin on the farm they purchased in 1959.

Earl was a 64 year member of American Legion Grimsley Thayer Post #502 at Castana. He was a mechanical person and enjoyed gardening and growing various things.

Survivors include his wife, Theodora of Mondamin; two daughters, Ruth Berry of Missouri Valley, IA and Earlene and her husband Gayland Hall of Missouri Valley; a son and his wife, Charles “Chuck” and Robin McCall of Pisgah, IA; eight grandchildren, Jimmy Berry, Dawn Adams, April Berry-Sanford, Cindy Neubauer, Christine Hall, Jessica Lingo and Jeremy and Christopher McCall and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jim Berry; a grandson, Joshua McCall; two sisters and six brothers.
