Memorial Service: 10:00 AM Friday, January 07, 2005 at the Chapel of the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.

Earl W. Evans, 87, of Burlington, died at 10:50 AM, Monday, January 3, 2005, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born April 9, 1917, in Burlington, he was the son Homer Leroy and Lydia Schroeder Evans. He married Helen Katherine Butler on August 29, 1940 in Burlington. Mr. Evans along with his son owned and operated The Model Clothing Store in downtown Burlington for 22 years. He retired in 1982. He was a 1936 graduate of Burlington High School. He served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant overseas for three years during World War II. He was a former Cub Scout leader, adult bible class teacher, past consistory member and life long member of the First United Church of Christ. He was a past member of the Toastmasters club, Burlington Noon Lions Club, Elks Club, fifty year member of the Masons, KAABA and Shriners, Carthage Lake Club and the Burlington Golf Club. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed sports, fishing and was an Iowa Hawkeye?s and Chicago Bears fan. Survivors include his wife, Helen; one son, William Gary Evans of Roseville, CA; two grandsons, Thomas Evans of Seattle, WA and Billy Evans of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. As per the request of Mr. Evans his body has been cremated. Friends may call after 8:00 AM, Thursday, January 6, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home until 7:00 PM. There will be no family visitation. The Memorial Service for Mr. Evans will be 10:00 AM Friday, January 7, in the Chapel of the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Judyann Morse officiating. Private family Inurnment will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at the Aspen Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to First United Church of Christ.

Visitation: Visitation: Friends may call after 8:00 AM, Thursday, January 06, 2005 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home until 7:00 PM. There will be no family visitation.
