Bono– Earl M. Whittingham, 84, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Jonesboro Health Care Center.
He was born May 3rd, 1926 in Trumann to the late O.W. and Julie Whittingham (Kurton). He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Signal Corp. He was a retired grocery salesman and loved working as a School Bus Monitor for the Jonesboro School District. Earl was also a Charter Member of the Westvale Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Edna (Lamons) Whittingham; one son, Ronnie and Phyllis Whittingham of Atlanta, Georgia, two daughters; Donna and Ronnie Lumley of Jonesboro and Judy and Tony Sauser of Bono, 5 grandchildren; Andy (Denise) Lumley of Forrest City, Jenny (Lynn) Buhler of Trumann, Clay (Jessica) Whittingham of Atlanta, GA., Cody (Sarah) Sauser of Jonesboro, and Rachel Sauser of Rogers, 7 great-grandchildren; Lauren, Hanna, and Brenna Lumley of Cabot, Shelby Buhler of Trumann, and Jacob, Levi and Katie Sauser of Jonesboro, three sisters; Jewel Cooper of Jonesboro, Edna Mae Hooker of Imboden, and Earlene Aston of Trumann, 5 brothers; Herbert (Louise) Whittingham of Jonesboro, O’Neil (Wanda) Whittingham of Benton, Raymond (Juanita) Whittingham of Trumann, Paul (Lela Faye)Whittingham of Harrisburg, and James (Janie) Whittingham of West Plains, MO.
He was also preceded in death by one sister; Lavone (Whittingham) May.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday at 2:00 PM at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro with Rev. Rick Kiefer and Brother Zane Gragg officiating and internment at Trinity Cemetery in Bono.
Visitation will be today from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Tony Sauser, Cody Sauser, Clay Whittingham, Andy Lumley, Lynn Buhler, and Ronnie Lumley.
