Edith Crisp Jenkins 1926 – 2011 Edith Crisp Jenkins, 85, of Gastonia, NC, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, incredible mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all that knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed. Edith was born May 5, 1926 in Graham County to the late J. Harve and Ida Cable Crisp. She was a graduate of Stecoah High School, class of 1945. She was a long time and faithful member of Modena Street Baptist Church where she served as church treasurer up until her illness. Edith retired from Threads USA in the price-audit department. Previously she had managed the F.S. Gold Stamp Redemption Center. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Cecil Andrew Jenkins, her 2 sisters, Charlotte "June' Headrick and Celestial Chennault, and a brother, Barney Crisp and special nieces Pattie Caye Jenkins and Sharon Crisp Lowery. Surviving to cherish loving memories, her daughter and devoted caregiver, Suzie Jenkins; beloved son, Colen K. Jenkins and wife, Camellia of Gastonia. Edith adored her grandchildren, Michelle Jenkins of Cherryville and Mark K. Jenkins and wife, Teri of Gastonia; three great grandchildren which she affectionately called "the golden boys" Dalton, Cole, and Carson Jenkins; sister, Opal Crisp Jenkins and husband, E.J. "Gene" Jenkins of Fayetteville, NC; brothers, Ben Crisp and wife, Barbara of Tuskeegee, NC and Delbert Crisp and wife Mary Jo of Statesville; numerous nieces and nephews which she had missed seeing over the years due to her failing health. Much love and blessings to Dr. Boris Kivitsky, Dr. Sylvester Ogbata and the entire Pallative Care team Carolinas Medical Center for their compassion and excellent care. The family will receive friends on Saturday November 5, 2011 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia followed by a 2:00 PM service of celebration and praise in the Founders Chapel with Rev. William Mauney officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Gardens, Bessemer City. In lieu of flowers contributions in Edith's memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, NC 28215 or The American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Ave., Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207.
