Edith L. "Mema" Helms, 82, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011. Born in Lunds Valley, North Dakota to the late Erick and Johanna Petersen, she was the widow of Homer S. Helms. She is survived by five children, Blane and wife Sheryl, Boyd and wife Jenny, Johanna McDonough and husband Mike, Brian and wife Shelley, and Ericka Anderson and husband Tim; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 21, 2011, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Snellings Funeral Home, 1144 George Washington Highway, N., Chesapeake, VA. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 22, 2011, at 11 a.m. by Pastor Eric Roecker, at the same location, with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens following the service.
