Edna D. Guy was born April 5, 1934 in Hartsville, SC to the late Bessie Ross and Edward Emmanuel. She attended grammar school there and graduated from Butler High School. Edna later met and married Leonard Guy on May 5, 1952. She moved to Paterson, NJ in 1963, and began working at Paterson Shade Co. for a number of years, and later on Preakness Hospital. In 1996 she retired from North Jersey Developmental Center. After retirement, Edna worked part-time as a Laundry attendant, where she had quite a few friends. Everyone loved and respected her, they called her "Mom". Edna loved all of her children and grandchildren. She was very strong and independent woman that helped everyone. She was very outspoken and would tell you what she wanted you to know. Whether it was good or bad, she would have to let you know about yourself. Edna would always help people and would give you her last. She would make sure you had a meal. Our mom was our ROCK! She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Guy, Sr; her parents, Bessie and Edward; grandchildren, Deborah Taborn, James Miller and Shay Miller; son-in-law, Raymond Taborn. She leaves to cherish fond memories her children, Phyllis (Steven) Jackson of Arizona, Leonard "Steve" Guy of Paterson, NJ, Vergeal "Stan" Guy of North Carolina, Dematia "MeMe" (James) Watson of Paterson, Dennis Guy of Paterson, Lyndon "Tommy" (Arleane) Guy of Paterson, Susan Guy of Paterson, Carleana (Jimmy) Seabrooks of Milford, PA, Natosha "Tosha" (Anthony) Patterson of Paterson; her siblings, Lawrence Emmanuel of Baltimore, MD, Mildrend (Alphonsa) Ross of Hartsville, SC, Essie Mae Friedson of Charlotte, NC, Betty Lou (Elijah) Mickens of Hartsville, SC, Barbara (Bennie) Wilkens of Paterson, Penny Mae Wildes of Baltimore, MD, Carolyn Wilson of Hartsville, SC, one aunt, Minnie Mae Williamson of Hartsville, SC; twenty-seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; two greatgreat grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Winston Guy of NC; one sister-in-law, Willie Mae Banks of Elizabeth, NJ a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friend and neighbors.
