Mrs. Edna Massingale Curtis

I have so many wonderful memories as a child with Edna and my grandparents. I remember going to Edna's house with my grandmother many years ago. Edna cooked black eyed peas. This was the very first time that I ever tried black eyed peas, it didn't take long to discover I didn't like them. I remember her laugh as she saw the look on my face. I have never forgotten that moment. I loved her so much and I always looked forward to seeing her. Although I didn't see her the last few years of her life, she was constanly in my thoughts. She was truly a wonderful woman and I am so glad that I had her in my life. She loved her family and was very loved in return. I am glad she has finally found peace and look forward to seeing her again one day.

The last time I had the pleasure of visiting with Edna, she was an absolute blessing to pass the afternoon with. She did not expect my visit, and as she answered the door, her face lite up with amazement and love. It had been a number of years since we had last met. We talked about my grandparents, and she just could simply not sit still through her excitement to see me and my soon to be husband at the time. When the subject came around to her daugther and grandsons, you could tell the love she had for them in her every feature, expression, and word. She spoke of how proud she was of her grandsons, and how they had grown since the last time I had seen them. We spoke of her late brother, my grandpa, and how much she missed him~she was very close to him throughout her life. The meeting ended with a warm embrace that just did not want to break. She once more offered to fix me something to eat, which this was a trait shared by all of the siblings in that family that I had gotten to meet. My guess, is her mom never turned away a visitor without a meal or atleast a snack. I promised to visit again when I was in the area, and sadly this didn't come to pass, but one day the meeting will be even greater. I know the whole family is sitting in heaven rejoicing, and singing, and that is a great comfort to know, with each passing from life, that a person is faithful to their Lord, and finds their everlasting place with Him.
