Edna Matthews McDuffie, age 93 of Carthage died Saturday (November 12, 2011) at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at Summer Hill Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert Sims. Burial will follow at Pocket Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Sanford.
A native of Lee County she was a daughter of the late E.Q. and Beulah Allen McDuffie. Edna attended East Carolina University. She and her husband the late George McDuffie farmed together for many years. Later she worked as a nurses aid and as a sales clerk for Quality Mills. She was preceded in death by two brothers Glen and Gaither Matthews.
She is survived by: a son Harman McDuffie and wife Tammy of Franklinville; sister Gaynelle Cox of Tramway; brothers Gray Matthews of Tramway and Gilbert Matthews of Lemon Springs; grandchildren Abigail Pope and Terri Sizemore.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.
