Edna Pearl (Greenwell) Hook, 87 passed peacefully with family at her side at the Hospice of Comforter October 20th, 2011 from complications of many years of anorexia. Born Jan. 7, 1924 in Wilson Arkansas to farmers James Roy and Julia Blanche Kelly, was the oldest of 5 children along with Jim, Mable, Billy and Bloss. At age 17 Edna left home at war time to attend nursing school in Memphis, which was her loved profession all her life. Married 65 years to Lt Col Edward A. Hook USAF and traveled many parts of the world until Edward retired from military service 1966 in Maitland Florida to raise two sons Edward Jr. and Paul; additionally 5 Grand Children- Edward 3rd, Heather, Lauren, Hannah and Charlotte; and one great-grandson Edward 4th. Her nursing career flourished additionally 25 years with 10 years as an emergency room nurse at Winter Park FL Hospital , then was recruited as one of the 5 original nurses to open the newly built Florida South Hospital emergency room in Altamonte Springs 15 more years. Edna helped many lives in their time of need. Edna will be buried in Osceola Arkansas at the Roller Swift Cemetery this Sunday.
