Age 58, of Alexandria, passed away peacefully on October 24 from cancer. He was the loving husband of the late Cathy Sheldahl who died in July 2010. He is survived by two children, Annalisa and Evan; his mother Edwina (Queenie) Sheldahl of Arlington. He is also survived by his brother David of Fox Island, WA. Edward was born in Arlington, VA, graduated from Yorktown High School in 1971. He earned his BS from Georgia Tech, becoming a Civil Highway Engineer. His entire career was with the Federal Highway Administration retiring in 2010. Before marriage he was a member of First Trinity Lutheran Church in DC and then Franconia United Methodist Church. Relatives and friends may call at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Dr. Alexandria, VA on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held 10am Saturday at Franconia United Methodist Church, 6037 Franconia Rd. Alexandria, VA. Interment Fairfax Memorial Park. There will be a repast at the church following the burial. Memorial contributions may be made to: Franconia United Methodist Church.
