Edward J. Kendall, 43, a resident of North Granby since 2007 and former long time resident of Simsbury, passed away Friday morning, March 30, 2012, surrounded by his loving family at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Hartford on February 9, 1969 a son of Ned H. Kendall of Simsbury and the late Patricia J. (Bartlett) Kendall who died in June of 2011. Ed was educated from the Simsbury School system and was a graduate of Simsbury High School Class of 1987. Ed enlisted with the United States Navy in 1988 and served his country for eight years on the USS Aylwin receiving his honorable discharge in 1994. During this period of time the United States of America was involved with several conflicts and wars including the Iran-Iraq War, Gulf of Sidra Incident, Operation Just Cause and the Gulf War. He currently was employed for 4 years as a salesman with W. H. Rose Company of Columbia, CT. Those who will remember him best will recall his ability to capture a room full of people with his infectious smile and quick wit, or his kind and gentle manner. Those who loved him the most will remember his voracious appetite for all that life had to offer. He enjoyed downhill skiing, biking, fishing, travelling and boating on Lake Winnipesauke. Beside his father he leaves his best friend and loving companion of five years, Carmen L. Sharp and her children, Samantha R. and Nicholas B. Sharp all of North Granby; his sons, Jackson R. and Charles W. Kendall of Granby; a sister, Sharon L. Ferreira of Tariffville; his nephew, Cody Ferreira; Carmen's parents, Ronald G. and Linda R. Nesti of Colorado Springs, CO; as well as an uncle and three cousins. His family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dr. Todd Alekshun and Dr. Ronald Buonomano at CT Multi Specialty Group, as well as Dr. Sharon Diamen and all the nurses on CB2 at the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center in Hartford Hospital for the dedicated care, comfort and support given to Ed and his family during his illness. His funeral and Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, April 4th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church Granby, 219 North Granby Rd., Granby. Private burial services will be held at Granby Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday evening, April 3rd from 5-8 p.m. at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook Street, Granby.
