Bellows-Falso Funeral Chapel
East Providence- Soares Edward J. 68 of East Dr. died Tuesday at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Sharon N. (Quinn) Soares.
Born in Fall River, Ma. a son of the late Cirillo and Mary (Silvia) Soares. He has lived in Rumford for the past fifteen years.
He served in the United States Navy.
Ed was a truck driver for A.B.F.
Besides his wife he leaves two daughters Joann Hillier of New Smyrna Beach, Fl. and Denise M. McManaman of Leominster, Ma., one son Michael E. Soares of Lincoln, one step-daughter Kerry Quinn of Cumberland, one sister Lorraine Lima of Warwick and eight grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Margaret Barbar.
He was a member of Friends of Bill W. and in good standing for twenty-three years; he was a member of the Teamster Union Local #251 Retirees Chapter, a member of the Rhode Island Golf Association and Triggs Golf Course, Providence, a member of the U.S. Bowling Association and an avid Yankee fan.
His funeral will be held on Saturday from BELLOWS-FALSO FUNERAL CHAPEL 160 River Rd. Lincoln at 8:45am, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Edward Church Weeden St. Pawtucket at 10am.Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited and may call FRIDAY 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory to the American Cancer Society 931 Jefferson Blvd. Suite 3004 Warwick, R.I. 02886-2233 would be appreciated.
