Edward J. Hodges, 84, of Stuart, Florida, died April 13, 2011 at The Gerstenberg Hospice Center, West Palm Beach.

Born in Linden, New Jersey, he had lived in Stuart for 22 years, coming from Bricktown, New Jersey.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid golfer.

Before retiring he was a sales man for Walworth, Inc., an industrial valve manufacturer.

He was a charter member of the Colonia, New Jersey, VFW Post.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years Lorraine Hodges of Stuart; daughters, Deborah Taylor of Colonia, New Jersey, Gail Spond of Keansburg, New Jersey and Diane Good of West Palm Beach, Florida; a son, David Shelbrick of Hobe Sound, Florida; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Shelbrick; a brother Charles Hodges and a sister Ruth Johnson.

Services will be private at a later date.
