Edward Westbury, age 56 of Merrillville passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2009 while on duty for the Merrillville Police Department. Ed is survived by his wife, Deborah; three children: Thomas Edward (Noel) Westbury, Patrick Donald Westbury and Michelle April Westbury all of Merrillville; grandchildren: Rachel Marie, Holly Ann, Evan James, Ayden James, Haylee Lynne all of Merrillville; brothers: Donald (Wanda) Westbury of Portage and Ronald (Sandy) Westbury of South Haven; in-laws: Lyle and Martha Thomas of Merrillville; brothers-in-law, William and James Thomas; sisters-in-law, Delores and LuAnn; and many, many friends. Preceded in death by parents, James and Florence Westbury.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 11:00 AM directly at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 8303 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN with Rev. Joseph E. Vamos officiating. Burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, February 4th from 2:00-8:00 PM at Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville. An F.O.P. service will be held Wednesday at 6:30 PM, followed by an I.V.F.A. service.

Edward was a Police Officer with the Merrillville Police Dept. with 24 years of service, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police #168. He was also a life member and past Fire Chief for the Merrillville Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a 16 year member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 430, and Board member of the Merrillville Conservancy District. One of Edward's favorite pastimes was watching NASCAR.
