Edward John Kaelin, 87 of Owensboro passed away March 13, 2010 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born November 11, 1922 to the late Albert J. & Veronica E. Krampe Kaelin in Daviess Co. He was retired from the US Postal Service, & a Veteran of the US Army where he served in WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He also was a member of the Disabled American Veterans & a member of St Mary Magdalene Catholic Church where he was involved with the Men's Club and the Cooking Team & a Third Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Fr. Connor Council #6101. Preceding him in death was his brother A.J. Kaelin Jr. Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Magdalen Molohon Kaelin, three sons; John R. Kaelin & his wife Laura, Stephen F. Kaelin & his wife Lucy, Martin A. Kaelin & his wife Patty, two daughters; Charlotte Hedges and her husband Jeff, & Theresa Wethington & her husband Brian, 12 Grandchildren; Stephanie, Carly & John Michael Kaelin, Natalie & her fiancé James Adams & Aaron Kaelin, Jared & Audrey Kaelin, Ben Hedges, Veronica, Cody, Wyatt & Cynthia Wethington, 2 brothers Paul Kaelin & Anthony Kaelin, all of Owensboro, & 3 sisters; Bernadine Persohn, Mary Agnes McMillen, & Ann Schnell, of Indiana. Services will be Monday at 10:00am at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Sorgho. Visitation will be Sunday 2:00pm-7:00pm at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home & Monday from 8:00am- 9:30am. Burial will be at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church Cemetery following the service. Prayers will be Sunday at 6:00pm at the funeral home. Father Mark Buckner will officiate.
