Edward R. Hodges, Jr., 60, passed away February 15, 2011, surrounded by his family. A native of Portsmouth, VA he was born to the late Edward Sr. and Vera Hodges. He was a good man who loved nature, woodworking and watching his grandsons play baseball. He retired from NNSY after 38 years and was an active member and deacon at Port Norfolk Baptist Church (PNBC). He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Mary (Jamie); sons, Kevin (Shirley) and Chris (Whitney); ten grandchildren; and a brother, Robbie. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at PNBC with Pastor Terry Taylor and Dr. Ector Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Amyloidosis Foundation at www.amyloidosis.org/contributions.asp or PNBC. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com.
