Edward Stoehr Obituary


Edward Woodworth Stoehr, 87, of Charleston, beloved husband of Rosemary, died on January 6, 2006.

Mr. Stoehr was born in Spokane, Washington, the son of the late Edward Stoehr and Hazel Woodworth Stoehr. He was raised on Long Island, New York. Mr. Stoehr was a graduate of Lehigh University as an industrial engineer where he was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. He remained an active alumni of the Lehigh Class of 1941 throughout his life.

Mr. Stoehr's career began as an automotive engineer at the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, Michigan. He was accompanied to Michigan by his new bride, Rosemary Boylan Stoehr. In 1948, Edward and Rosemary moved to Manhasset, New York and Edward began his life long business as a manufacturer/wholesaler in the building industry. Mr. Stoehr was President of White Pine Sash Company of New York, New York.

Edward Stoehr was a life member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, and a member of the James Island Yacht Club and the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist. Edward's love of boating and the sea lasted all his life.

He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Rosemary and his six children and six grandchildren: daughters - Sandra Gillette of Langhorne, Pennsylvania; Laurie Barnoski of Olympia, Washington; Elizabeth Gallager of Raleigh, North Carolina: sons - Bruce Stoehr of Charleston; Christopher Stoehr of Locust Valley, New York; Andrew Stoehr of Greenville, North Carolina; grandsons - Brian, Christopher, John, Christopher, Max and Jacob.
