Edward W. Doane, 68, passed away July 27, 2011 with his family at his side from complications of cancer. He leaves his devoted wife of 42 years Sharon (Page); Two sons, Karl and his wife Julie of Woburn, Thomas and his wife Tricia of Auburn; Three grandchildren, Meghan, Erin, Piper; Two sisters, Janet Erickson of Grafton, Anne Boudreau of Snug Harbor RI; nieces, nephews and cousins. Ed was born in Malden November 25, 1942 the son of the late Edward F. and Marion (Wallace) Doane and lived most of his life in Grafton. He worked over 40 years in the packaging machinery business beginning at George Meyer Co. in Worcester, Matteer Co. in PA and then as a manufacturer's representative with Rypac Packaging Co. in New Jersey. Ed was a graduate of Grafton High School Class of 1961, and Worcester Jr. College in 1963. He served his country as a Sgt. In the US Marine Corps Reserves. Ed loved his family, many friends and his home. He also enjoyed golf playing in the Monday Night Golf League at Stow Acres Country Club, was a member of The Webster Sailing Association, was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church and he accompanied his wife Sharon on numerous volunteer efforts. Ed's family asks that you honor and remember him in lieu of flowers with memorial donations to The American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham MA 01701. Funeral & Calling Hours A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday August 2nd at 11 am at his Parish Church of St. Mary 17 Waterville St. North Grafton. He will be laid to rest privately by his family. ( all attending Tuesday are politely asked to meet at the church) All are invited to calling hours at THE RONEY FUNERAL HOME 152 Worcester St. North Grafton Monday August 1st from 4 to 8 pm.
