Edwin Burress Summar, born September 20th, 1927 at Moro, Arkansas and grew up at Braggadocio, Missouri, passed from this earth on August 3, 2008. He loved his precious family and good friends and he believed that Christ died for him.

After his retirement from his job as an electrician at U.S. Steel Sheet and Tin Division in Gary, Indiana, Ed created his dream job. He loved and operated Vintage Auto Salvage for 24 years until his illness kept him away.

He was a member of Elks Lodge #2247 and also liked to sing country music with the karaoke and his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Betty; daughter, Carolyn (Larry) Hartley, Valparaiso, IN; Sons, Terry (Sandy) Summar, Crown Point, IN, Jim (Lynn) Summar, Yuma, AZ, Ken (Melissa) Nasiatka, Bradford, AR, Bob (Tammy) Nasiatka, Portage, IN, Steve (Sheila) Nasiatka, Quinton, AL; Grandchildren, Todd Summar, Cody Mills, Ryan Hartley, Beth Wilson, Kim Grimes, Kendyl Nasiatka, Mike Nasiatka, Christina Nasiatka, Sarah Nasiatka, Cody Nasiatka, ReAnna Nasiatka; Great Grandchildren Jessica Murphy, Cierra and Olivia Van Zandt, Zoey Gassaway and Brady Grimes.

Ed is also survived by his sister Virginia (Dick) Moore of Lonoke, AR. Also, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Asa and Elmo Alice Summar; a daughter, Patricia Ann (Patti) Wilson; Sisters, Betra Summar, Vetra Crouthis and Mildred Murphy; brothers, Hollis Summar, Asa Summar Jr. and Dick Summar.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Searcy Hospice. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob. Services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob with interment at Coffeyville Cemetery. Online condolences at www.powellfuneralhome.net.
