Edwin Fred Lipker the son of John and Anna Kapperman Lipker was born April 28, 1918 in Nuckolls County, NE near Ruskin, Nebraska. He departed this life on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler, Nebraska at the age of 94 years. Ed attended Star Country School and Parochial School at St. Marks Lutheran Church. He was baptized on May 12, 1918 by Pastor H. Eggert and was confirmed on April 24, 1932 by Pastor Otto Witting all at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Ruskin, NE. On June 18, 1941 Ed was united in marriage to Delphia Lorene Harvey at Wichita, KS. This union was blessed with the birth of two sons. In 1936 Ed became a mechanic in Hebron and in during World War II Ed served his country by working at the Cessna Aircraft Plant in Wichita, KS, building T5O Cessna's for the United States, he was a welder. Ed loved to farm, so after the war, he and Lorene came to home to set up farming in the Oak area, with a pair of horses given to them by his father. Ed farmed for himself and the neighbors doing custom work, ranging from picking corn, hay baling to welder and mechanic. Ed was a jack of all trades and he mastered them all Ed enjoyed gardening, canning, planting fruit trees and planted may new trees. Ed was an active member of Centennial Lutheran Church of Superior for many years. Ed and Lorene enjoyed spending their winter months in south Texas. He was a member of the Ruskin Rural Fire Department, and a past member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Ruskin. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters: Lydia, Albert, Elmer, Lorenz, Della; brother in laws Carroll and Dean Harvey. Survivors include his wife of 71 years Lorene of Deshler, NE; sons Harland Lipker and wife Ruth of Shakopee, MN and Dorrel Lipker and wife LeAnn of Oak, NE; grandchildren: Sarah Lipker of St. Paul, MN; Sonia Lipker of Anchorage, Alaska;, Nikki Drohman and husband Dustin of Ruskin, NE; and Corey Lipker and special friend Maci Fangmeyer of Oak, NE; great granddaughter Molley Lorene Drohman of Ruskin, NE; brother in law Norman Peterson and wife Donna of Bennington, NE; sister in law Sarah Harvey of Superior, NE; and Dorene Harvey Bella Vista, AR; nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held this Friday 10:00 AM, July 6, 2012 at Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior, NE. Pastor Brian Scott Earl will be officiating. Burial will be held in the Spring Creek Cemetery, Ruskin, NE. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, NE.
