ZAHNER- Edwin R., 87, of West Paterson, died Saturday. Born in East Orange, NJ, Mr. Zahner resided in West Paterson since 1957. He was the Owner of Passaic Valley Press of West Paterson from 1964 until his retirement last year. He was also employed at the West Paterson Post Office for over 20 years. He loved mackerel fishing in Maine. Mr. Zahner attended Pequannock Reformed Church. He was a member of Livingston Lodge #11, Free and Accepted Masons, Salaam Temple AAONMS of Livingston, Scottish Rite of Lincoln Park, Lakeland Shrine Club, the York Rite; Royal Order of Jesters, Newark Court #37, American Legion Post #238 of West Paterson and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was Past President of West Paterson Fire Department and member of West Paterson Fire Co. #2; active in the Passaic County Office of Emergency Management; member of the West Paterson and New Jersey Exempt Fireman's Associations; North Jersey Fireman's Association and Honorary Member of West Paterson First Aid Squad. Mr. Zahner was predeceased by his beloved wife, the former Ruth Semon, in 1986; and by his two sisters, Marie Zahner and Dorothy Michal. Survivors include: his daughter, Beverly Zahner and her husband, John "Jack" Hoonhout of Friendship, Maine; his brother, Charles Zahner of Wanaque, NJ; his sister, Mildred Jones of Endicott, NY; his cherished friend and companion, Dorothy Troast and her family; his two grandchildren, Jane Hoonhout and John Hoonhout and several great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Thursday at BIZUB-PARKER FUNERAL HOME, 47 Main Street, Little Falls. Interment to follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. Visitation on Tuesday from 7-9 pm and Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to West Paterson Fire Department, PO Box 511, West Paterson, NJ 07424.
