Eileen was born and raised in Little Neck, N.Y. She moved to Portland in 1976, where she met and married Roy, and where they raised their daughter Kaylie. Eileen was an incredible artist, who attended Rhode Island School of Design and San Francisco Art Institute, and enjoyed painting animals in humorous, whimsical settings. She was a graphic designer at the Oregon Zoo for 15 years, and later worked for organizations assisting the elderly. Eileen was a beautiful person. She always looked for the best in people and opened her heart to everyone she met. She made people feel welcome, she listened, and she always cared. Her beautiful smile and witty humor brightened our days, and her courage, patience, and kindness inspired us all. She truly touched our hearts and made us better people. Eileen is survived by her husband, Roy Shallis; daughter, Kaylie Shallis; brother, William Yee; and sister, Christina Rosa. A celebration of life will be held for Eileen Dec. 29, 2010, in Portland.
