Elbert Gregory Robinson (Greg to all who knew him), age 64, Green Bay, passed away Monday, June 18th, 2012 from a stroke after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was born on March 25th, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Elbert & Viola (Waters) Robinson. Greg married Barbara Jean Reichert on November 10th, 1990 in Madison, WI. Surviving are his loving wife, Barbara, his stepson Bradley Reichert (special friend Sherri O'Donnell), of Madison WI; granddaughter Madison Reichert of Byron MN, aunt Betty Waters and cousins Ronald Waters and Larry Robinson and Lorraine Robinson of Philadelphia, PA and many loving family members and friends. Greg grew up in Philadelphia, was a graduate of Lincoln University and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Greg had a long career in television and worked for many years in production development at the Wisconsin Educational Communications Board. In 1999 Greg and Barbara realized a dream and became owners of the Astor House Bed & Breakfast in downtown Green Bay which they have operated continuously to the present day. Greg was a member of St. John the Evangelist parish in Green Bay. Greg loved music and playing the blues on one of his many guitars. He was an active ham radio operator, having first obtained a license at the age of 12. He and Barbara enjoyed weekend getaways to B&B's around Wisconsin and at their Lakeview retreat in Door County. Greg appreciated fine dining and brandy old fashioned sours. Communication was very important to him. Never carrying fewer than two phones, Greg was always connected to friends, family and B&B guests. His caring and gentle spirit will be greatly missed. Visitation will take place on Saturday, June 23rd, 2012 at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 413 Saint John St. The funeral service will follow at 11am. There will be a luncheon after the service, also at the church. Burial will be the following week at Greg's final resting place at Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery in Antonino, Kansas. Please go to www.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the family. The RYAN FUNERAL HOME of De Pere is assisting the family. The family has asked that no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Freedom House in Green Bay in support of homeless families, or Gilda's Club of Madison helping people affected by cancer.
