Eleanor Hamrick

Eleanor Mae (Wallin) Hamrick, 93 of Lubbock, Texas, left this world for her heavenly mansion on October 30, 2010.

Eleanor was born March 6, 1917 to Albert B. & Amy Edson in Bennington, Kansas.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William (Bill) Hamrick; brothers, Harold Edson and Harris Edson; son, Rudy Wallin; and grandchildren, Kenny Wallin and Rissa Wallin.

Survivors include three sons and 2 daughters-in-law, Roger Wallin and wife, Tommie; Rick Wallin and wife, Karen; and Craig Wallin all of Lubbock, Texas; brother Gerald Edson and wife Nadine of Tempe, Arizona; twelve grandchildren, three step-grandsons; numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Eleanor retired from a 40 plus year career as a legal secretary from the Davis Law Firm. She enjoyed flower gardening, singing, baseball and traveling. Eleanor was a charter member of Forrest Heights United Methodist Church and the Sweet Adelines Prairie Winds Chorus. She loved life and was a loving mother, grandmother and dedicated friend.

Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 10:30a.m. at Forrest Heights UMC in Lubbock, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Vista Care Hospice. The family wishes to express deep appreciation for the loving care Mom received during her illness from the staff of Joe Arrington Cancer Center and Vista Care Hospice.

Eleanor was independent pioneer lady and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We look forward to the day we will see her again in our eternal home with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
